Drew McIntyre teams up with former rival for new WWE project
Drew McIntyre teamed up with a former rival for a new WWE project. The Scottish Warrior returned from hiatus earlier this month and will be in action tomorrow night at Saturday Night's Main Event.
Sheamus and McIntyre have been bitter rivals in the past but teamed up recently for a new project. The veterans made an appearance at The Wrestling Club in Brooklyn, New York, and surprised the kids in attendance. The two WWE stars got a huge reaction from the kids, and you can check out the heartwarming video in the Instagram post below.
Drew McIntyre returned earlier this month on RAW and attacked Sami Zayn. It was the first time McIntyre had been seen since his loss to CM Punk in the Hell in a Cell match at Bad Blood earlier this year. The former World Heavyweight Champion will be facing Sami Zayn in a singles match at Saturday Night's Main Event tomorrow night.
Bill Apter believes Drew McIntyre returned to WWE earlier than expected
Wrestling veteran Bill Apter recently discussed Drew McIntyre's return to the company and suggested that it occurred earlier than anticipated.
Speaking on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine podcast, Apter shared that he thought the 39-year-old would return during the Men's Royal Rumble Match next year. However, Apter noted that the injury to Bronson Reed may have accelerated WWE's plans for McIntyre's return to television. Bronson Reed suffered a broken ankle while jumping off the top of the cage during the Men's WarGames Match at Survivor Series.
"Well, I think Drew was brought back earlier than anticipated. I think he was gonna come back during the Royal Rumble. But with the injury that happened to Bronson Reed coming off that cage at the Survivor Series, I think they needed to slip somebody in there who is going to give a buzz to the company again, and he was definitely the right man."
