Elias reacts to his new name after WWE release
WWE released several superstars on September 21, 2023, including Elias. Since then, the former WWE 24/7 Champion has been in the wind and has put out little to no information about his future. However, on New Year's, he revealed that he would be hitting the independent circuit with a new ring name, which he commented on recently.
The name in question, much like his previous name, has biblical connotations. Now, going by Elijah, it is in line with his other monikers, namely Heavy Metal Jesus and Ezekiel. Many wonder why he has stuck with such a theme. On Virtual Gimmick Table with Highspots Superstore, he commented on the same, confirming that he picked the new name because of its connection with John the Baptist.
"Yeah, that’s exactly right. That’s good. I love all the biblical names if you can’t tell by now. Elias, Ezekiel, Elijah, you got the Heavy Metal Jesus from my past life, so yeah, that’s where Elijah comes from," he said. [H/T: Fightful]
It certainly looks like Elijah has found his identity with this theme. But, while he has given himself a new name, he has yet to confirm his next wrestling gig. Nevertheless, fans will be looking forward to his next appearance in the ring.
His run with WWE was rather enjoyable. It will be great to see him tackle the independent scene, where he will hopefully find much success.
WWE Universe is keen to see Elias back in the ring
It's been about four months now since Elias left WWE. For the most part, very few batted an eyelid following his firing. However, after his most recent promo revealing his new ring name, Fans have gone bonkers on social media.
The promo was filmed well and showed the 36-year-old wrestler shedding his past, ready for the new challenge ahead. This prompted many wrestling fans to commend him and even express their excitement over perhaps seeing him back in a ring sooner rather than later.
As things stand, the newly reborn Elijah has not signed with any new promotion. But, if one thing is for sure, companies will be lining up to hand him a contract. After all, from the looks of it, he is still quite the entertainer.
