Eric Bischoff applauds WWE's "masterclass" booking of RAW star (Exclusive)

Eric Bischoff was in charge of WCW when the company beat WWE in television ratings for 83 consecutive weeks in the second half of the 1990s. In an exclusive interview, the Hall of Famer praised WWE's recent storytelling and presentation of Bron Breakker.

Breakker is the son of wrestling legend Rick Steiner and nephew of Scott Steiner. The 26-year-old is viewed as one of WWE's top stars of the future. However, many fans expressed concern after he lost clean against Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn at Money in the Bank on July 6.

Speaking to Sportskeeda Wrestling Senior Editor Bill Apter, Bischoff reflected on how he sometimes gave WCW wrestlers too much too soon. In Breakker's case, he thinks WWE's decision-makers are handling his progression perfectly:

"I think what WWE is doing with Bron is a masterclass, and I'll tell you why," Bischoff stated. "I think, and I made this mistake, so I think I'm probably more qualified than anybody you know to talk about it because I admit it. The mistake, when you've got a talent that you feel so strongly about, the crowd has reacted to, every indicator that you can measure, real or imagined, is telling you this guy's gonna be the star, the temptation to rush into that opportunity is immense." Eric Bischoff explains why WWE should be patient with Bron Breakker

Since making his in-ring debut in 2021, Bron Breakker has been touted by some as a possible WrestleMania main-eventer one day.

Eric Bischoff thinks WWE is right to make fans wait before overexposing the two-time NXT Champion too early on in his career:

"It [temptation to rush talent] was [high] for me, and I rushed a lot of things, a number of things, that could have been so much better and longer lasting. Because I think with wrestling fans, again, learned this the hard way and the right way, they want to tell you when they think you are ready, and as a promoter or producer, my timeline and your timeline is different and I shove it down their throats, even though they want to want it, then you're starting over with a bad mark." On August 3, Breakker will challenge Sami Zayn for the Intercontinental Championship again at SummerSlam.
