"Everyone hated him" – Wade Barrett on the greatest WWE villain of all time
WWE SmackDown commentator Wade Barrett mostly played a heel persona on television during his full-time wrestling career. Ahead of the blue brand show, the former Intercontinental Champion named his pick for the greatest villain in professional wrestling.
During a WWE Pop Question segment on YouTube, the former NEXUS leader declared JBL the greatest heel of all time. Barrett explained that JBL’s complete lack of redeeming qualities made him universally despised by fans, a characteristic that deeply inspired him.
"The Wrestling God, JBL, a man who had literally zero redeeming qualities. Everybody hated him, except for one, young Wade Barrett, who decided, I'm going to try and model myself after that guy," he said. [From 00:25 to 00:42]

Wade Barrett wants one final WWE contest against a 39-year-old star
The former five-time Intercontinental Champion hasn't had a match in WWE in over eight years. Wade Barrett's final match was on Monday Night RAW in April 2016, where he teamed up with Sheamus in The League of Nations. They suffered a defeat against The New Day's Big E and Kofi Kingston in a WWE Tag Team Championship match.
In an interview with AceOdds, Wade Barrett expressed his desire to face Drew McIntyre in a match before a packed crowd at Wembley Stadium in his home country, England.
"If I could have one match for the remainder of my days on this planet, it would absolutely be me against Drew McIntyre at Wembley Stadium. If they dangled that in front of me at any point in time, yeah, absolutely. I'm coming back, and I'm having that match sold out at Wembley Stadium. But that is a bit of a pipe dream," he said.
When The Scottish Warrior physically confronted RAW General Manager, Adam Pearce, during the 2024 Money in the Bank post-show panel, the former NEXUS leader intervened to de-escalate the situation.
Only time will tell if fans will witness a massive showdown between Wade Barrett and Drew McIntyre at Wembley Stadium in the future.
