Ex-WWE champion calls out John Cena ahead of the latter's Retirement Tour: "I know I already have his attention"
A former WWE champion recently expressed his desire to go head-to-head with John Cena on the latter's Retirement Tour. He claimed he already had The Leader of the Cenation's attention.
Earlier this year, the 47-year-old legend announced that he would embark on a Retirement Tour in 2025, during which he would make 30+ appearances. Since then, several WWE Superstars have revealed their desire to share the ring with Cena.
In a recent interview with Wide World of Sports, former WWE Tag Team Champion Grayson Waller called out Cena, claiming he had unfinished business with The Franchise Player. The two previously locked horns at Money in the Bank 2023. Cena also appeared on The Grayson Waller Effect on the September 15, 2023, episode of SmackDown.
Waller explained that he wanted to be tested against Cena, dubbing the latter "the measuring stick!"
"I've had the opportunity to be in there with him on the microphone, but I've never had the opportunity to be tested by him in the ring. And I think that's what Cena does: test people. He's a measuring stick. You go against John Cena; you show that you belong. So many guys have gone in there and afterwards gone on to big things because they passed the test. And I want the hottest test, and I think that is it," he said.
The 34-year-old pointed out that he would do everything he could to get a match against The Leader of the Cenation before the latter hung up his boots, promising to say "the meanest things possible."
"If he's only here for one more year, I'm gonna say whatever I have to say to make that happen. I'm gonna say the meanest things possible. And I already know I have his attention, and I think it's time to double down and really show that I'm the kinda guy that you put in against Cena at the end," he said. [From 0:34 onwards]

Another WWE star addressed potentially facing John Cena in his final match
John Cena and Randy Orton had a heated rivalry in WWE. Since The Doctor of Thuganomics announced his decision to retire next year, many have speculated about a potential final square-off between The Viper and the 16-time World Champion in 2025.
In an interview with Adam's Apple, Orton commented on whether he could be Cena's final opponent in WWE. He stated that he and The Leader of the Cenation would let the creative make that decision.
"John and I just let Creative do what they do. And if it's meant to be, then you know, it'll be meant to be. But I'm not gonna lose any sleep over it," he said.
WWE fans and experts have also suggested other names as potential opponents for Cena during his Retirement Tour, including The Rock, Roman Reigns, and Cody Rhodes. It will be interesting to see who he ends up sharing the ring with.
