Ex-WWE Champion dethroning Cody Rhodes before WWE WrestleMania 41 is possible, says analyst
Cody Rhodes recently surpassed 200 days as Undisputed WWE Champion. However, a WWE analyst does not rule out the possibility of The American Nightmare dropping the title to a former world champion ahead of WrestleMania 41.
The 39-year-old Undisputed WWE Champion is preparing to face the World Heavyweight Champion Gunther in a Crown Jewel Title match this Saturday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, he remains in a feud with Kevin Owens on SmackDown since the latter attacked him in the parking lot after Bad Blood.
The Prizefighter is also feuding with Rhodes' mentor, Randy Orton. During the latest episode of Insight with Chris Van Vliet, the latter and WWE analyst Sam Roberts discussed the possibility of Rhodes losing the title to The Viper before next year's Show of Shows.
When Van Vliet disclosed that he could see a scenario in which Orton could dethrone The American Nightmare, Roberts claimed it was possible. He also predicted that The Viper would be Rhodes' upcoming feud after Owens. Meanwhile, the show's host pointed out that Rhodes dropping the title to Orton could lead to another match between the two at WrestleMania 41:
"What if Randy at some point between now and then beats Cody?" Van Vliet wondered. "It's possible because I think that's coming after Kevin," Roberts replied. "I think so too. Which then sets up perhaps a rematch or a bigger story with heel Randy versus very big babyface Cody at WrestleMania 41," Van Vliet added. [21:30 - 21:44]
WWE legend thinks The Rock will be the one to end Cody Rhodes' reign
On a recent episode of the Busted Open podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry discussed the future of Cody Rhodes' championship reign. He predicted that The Rock would be the one to dethrone The American Nightmare.
The World's Strongest Man pointed out that Gunther would be his next pick to end Rhodes' Undisputed WWE Championship run:
"[Who do you think is going to end Cody Rhodes' reign as Undisputed WWE Champion?] I would've liked to think that it would be The Rock but Gunther would be my next choice," he said.
It would be interesting to see how long The American Nightmare can hold on to the Undisputed WWE Championship and who would be the one to end his title reign.
