Ex-WWE employee discusses Shane McMahon's lifelong struggle for approval from Vince McMahon (Exclusive)
Former WWE head writer Vince Russo recently spoke about the complex relationship between Shane and Vince McMahon. The recent Netflix documentary brought to light some tensions between the father and son.
In the Mr. McMahon docuseries, Shane McMahon discussed his relationship with his dad. He recalled that Vince was tough with him and often hard to please. Shane even told the producers that he was only looking for some vindication and respect from his father. The star mentioned that he finally got his heartwarming moment after his WrestleMania 32 match against The Undertaker.
During this week's episode of BroDown with Vince Russo, the former writer recalled his memories of the uneasy father-son relationship between the two McMahons. He revealed how Shane was always trying to make his father proud. Russo claimed that Vince McMahon was never impressed and despite his best efforts, Shane McMahon always fell short.
"Shane McMahon has spent his entire life trying to prove himself to Vince McMahon. I was there and I was a witness of it. His entire life, nothing, nothing Shane did was ever good enough for his father." [From 11:47 onwards]
The docuseries has laid bare various aspects of Vince McMahon's life, including his promiscuous activities. The general consensus after watching the series was not in favor of the 79-year-old and has seemingly further dented his reputation.
