Ex-WWE employee questions Sami Zayn's claim to a World Heavyweight Championship match (Exclusive)
Former WWE head writer Vince Russo recently spoke about Sami Zayn looking for a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship. The star has been pushing Gunther for a title opportunity.
This week on RAW, Sami took on Ludwig Kaiser in a bid to secure a shot at the world title. He won the match with a Helluva Kick on the Imperium member. However, the Ring General was not impressed and still refused to give Sami the match.
During this week's episode of Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW, Russo exposed the flaw in WWE's booking. The veteran pointed out that Sami Zayn had just lost the Intercontinental Championship to Bron Breakker at SummerSlam and questioned how he could expect to challenge for a bigger title. He felt the booking made no sense and that Gunther was right in not giving him the match.
"You just lost the Intercontinental title to Bron Breakker. So how do you lose the Intercontinental title but now you're gonna get a shot at a title that's on a higher level when you couldn't keep the title below it? None of that makes any sense whatsoever. I guess this show only makes sense to the built-in marks that watch it." [9:37 onwards]
Over the last few weeks, Sami Zayn has tried and failed to get a match for the World Heavyweight Championship.
With just a few days remaining for Bad Blood, it will be interesting to see if the Master Strategist manages to force Gunther into the match.
