Ex-WWE employee shares controversial reason why Xavier Woods never became World Champion (Exclusive)
Former WWE writer Vince Russo recently spoke about the heated backstage segment between Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston. The two New Day members had a huge argument on RAW this week.
Kofi and Xavier were in a tag team match against the Alpha Academy this week on RAW. However, they lost the match, leading to an argument between the stars as they exited the ring. During the spat, Kofi said that Woods was the only member of the New Day never to win the world title because he wasn't good enough.
This week on Legion of RAW, Russo discussed why Xavier Woods never won the WWE Championship or any singles title. The former writer pointed out that Woods' past was possibly the reason. He felt if Xavier won a major title, kids would look him up online and find some of his explicit content which would be bad press for WWE.
"Because if little kids looked up Xavier Woods on the internet, they'll see what he did with the camera back in the day. That's why." [From 44:25 onwards]
The tensions between the New Day members have increased every passing week. While WWE is planning a huge tribute for the group commemorating their 10-year anniversary, Kofi and Xavier don't seem to be on the same page.
It will be interesting to see if these disagreements lead to a fallout between the two stars in the coming weeks.
