Ex-WWE figure slams Hulk Hogan for controversial comment about Chris Benoit (Exclusive)

Hulk Hogan often finds himself in hot water for his comments. An ex-WWE backstage figure recently slammed the Hall of Famer for his controversial comment about Chris Benoit.

On the latest episode of Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws, Vince Russo spoke to Dr. Chris Featherstone and EC3 about his three months working with Chris Benoit. They also spoke about Hulk Hogan, and Russo wasn't too happy with what he said about Benoit.

For context, Hulk Hogan said on the IMPAULSIVE podcast that wrestling fans were very forgiving and that they had forgiven Chris Benoit for the 2007 tragedy involving his family. Naturally, this didn't sit well with many.

Vince Russo said it wasn't even a knock on Hulk Hogan, but he couldn't understand why he said the things he did, including his statement about Benoit.

"This is not a knock on [Hulk] Hogan and I have nothing bad to say about him but I don't know, in the wrestling business, he perhaps has opened up his mouth and said more stupid things than anybody else, which is surprising, bro, because he was one of the best politicians in the game. But some of the things he has said over the years (...) Bro, what are you thinking about, man? Because the comment he made was that people have forgiven Chris Benoit. Who? Who's forgiven Chris Benoit for taking his family out? Name one person who has forgiven him!" (5:26 - 6:14)

Hulk Hogan had a lot of praise for CM Punk

The Hulkster is known to praise young superstars such as Kevin Owens and Becky Lynch. He recently spoke about CM Punk, who is widely considered a controversial name in pro wrestling.

Speaking to Sportskeeda Wrestling Senior Editor Bill Apter, Hulk Hogan heaped praise on CM Punk and his abilities.

"First off, he's very believable. He's very, very believable in the ring. He just seems real. He's got that outlaw mentality. But the cool part about him is that he speaks the truth and he's very opinionated and a lot of people agree with his opinion. It's kind of like a lot of stuff that people are afraid to say, he'll say it. He's like a truth-teller. So he really has it figured out which is cool, which is why I'd really like him to stay healthy and not have any more accidents because I want to see this CM Punk last for years." (2:06 - 2:54)

Hogan repeatedly expressed his desire to see CM Punk remain healthy so he could make the most of his ongoing WWE run.
