Ex-WWE star explains why he complained about Bill Goldberg (Exclusive)

Bill Goldberg suffered two concussions during his infamous match against The Undertaker in Saudi Arabia at WWE Super ShowDown 2019. In an exclusive interview, Matt Riddle shed light on why he was so critical of the former WCW star after the event.

Before the bout, Goldberg suffered his first concussion after headbutting a door backstage. The two-time Universal Champion then sustained another concussion while mistiming a spear against the ring post.

Riddle, a WWE NXT star at the time, described Goldberg as "unsafe, dangerous, and a liability" on social media following the show. Speaking to Sportskeeda Wrestling Senior Editor Bill Apter and host Dr. Chris Featherstone, the 38-year-old claimed he felt "compelled" to say something:

"So when I see somebody injure someone or not do something properly or headbutt a door and give themselves a concussion and then botch everything, I'm gonna kinda bust your balls a little bit," Riddle said. "And with the initial action between me and Goldberg, wasn't a huge fan, but then when he had that match with 'Taker in Saudi, I mean, I was in NXT, I felt like I had to say something. I was compelled." [6:57 – 7:23]

Matt Riddle clears up his views on Bill Goldberg

Although he has been critical of Bill Goldberg's in-ring approach, Matt Riddle has no problem with the WWE Hall of Famer as a person.

Earlier in the interview, Riddle used legendary wrestler Arn Anderson as an example of someone other in-ring competitors can look up to:

"I'm not unhappy or dislike Goldberg. Let's just get that cleared up. But, you know, you've got Arn Anderson, guy's a stallion in the ring, guy who's good. I respect him. That's part of this business. It's not just hitting a spear and hurting people and saying you're the man and getting booked a certain way. It's about taking care of each other. It's a brotherhood." Riddle also revealed whether he is willing to wrestle Goldberg if a promoter wants to book them in a match against each other.
