Ex-WWE star issues a major title vs. title match against Oba Femi
Oba Femi had a meteoric rise on WWE's developmental brand after he captured the North American Championship from Dragon Lee. Meanwhile, current TNA Digital Media Champion AJ Francis has issued a title vs. title bout against the star.
Last week, AJ Francis (fka Top Dolla) won the TNA Digital Media Championship from Laredo Kid. Lately, TNA Wrestling has been working with WWE, as Jordynne Grace and Ash By Elegance (fka Dana Brooke) have appeared on NXT and NXT Battleground 2024.
During an interview with Adrian Hernandez, Dolla spoke about the North American Champion, Oba Femi. The star addressed the cross-promotion matches and pitched a massive title vs. title match against the North American Champion in the near future.
"People want me to fight Oba Femi so bad, and I want to too. I'm willing to put it all on the line. We can go title for title, like I ain't scared. I know he ain't scared either. That's what makes good fights. Two real dogs that ain't scared of each other (...) I got nothing but love and respect for that brother, but I don't think it's going to be him," Francis said. Oba Femi recently defended his title at WWE NXT Battleground 2024
At the end of last year, Oba Femi rose to the top of the card when he won the NXT Men's Breakout tournament and earned a guaranteed title shot at the championship of his choosing.
The star made his presence felt and attacked Dragon Lee after the latter's title defense and captured the NXT North American Championship. He cemented his run as he defeated the former champion in a rematch at NXT Vengeance Day 2024.
Later, he faced more challenges as the champion when he successfully walked out of NXT Stand & Deliver 2024 by defeating Josh Briggs and Dijak. Lately, Femi has been feuding with Wes Lee.
At WWE Battleground 2024, Oba Femi had another Triple Threat match for the title when he defended it against Joe Coffey and Wes Lee. The star pinned Coffey at the event as he retained the North American Championship.
