Ex-WWE star predicts shocking twist for Gunther's title defense at Saturday Night's Main Event
WWE Superstar Gunther will defend his World Heavyweight Championship against Damian Priest and Finn Balor in a Triple Threat Match at Saturday Night's Main Event. Ahead of the show, former WWE star Matthew Rehwoldt (FKA Aiden English) predicted a surprising twist that would help The Ring General retain his title this weekend.
Initially, only The Prince was scheduled to challenge Gunther for the world title. However, on the December 9, 2024, edition of Monday Night RAW, Adam Pearce added The Street King to the match, making it a Triple Threat contest at the upcoming NBC special event.
On the REBOOKED Wrestling podcast, Matthew Rehwoldt predicted that the primary conflict at Saturday Night's Main Event would be between Finn Balor and Damian Priest. He added that the former Judgment Day stablemates would ''tear each other apart.''
The erstwhile Aiden English anticipated that Gunther would strategically allow this internal conflict to escalate between The Demon and The Archer of Infamy before seizing the opportunity to retain his WWE World Heavyweight Championship on December 14.
"Here, [at SNME], not that it's his goal because Gunther's trying to gain his control back, but the heat is [between] Finn [Balor] and Damian [Priest]. That is an emotional blood feud; they're going to tear each other apart, and he [Gunther] is going to get involved but almost inadvertently. He's not Christian [Cage]; he's not going to be the, 'I'm gonna sneak in and roll up,' but he will let them destroy each other and pick the bones," Rehwoldt said. [From 01:13:17 to 01:13:47]

WWE star Damian Priest claims Gunther can't beat him in a one-on-one match
This week on the red brand, a brawl erupted between The Prince, The Street King, and The Ring General. However, it was Finn Balor (and The Judgment Day) who ultimately stood tall over his opponents.
In an interview with Cathy Kelley on RAW Talk, Damian Priest claimed that Gunther didn't have the ability to defeat him in a one-on-one match and required assistance. The 42-year-old WWE Superstar also asserted his dominance over Finn Balor.
"Gunther knows, one-on-one, he can't beat me; he needs help. And Finn Balor, well, he just likes getting beat up by me, so I'll continue to do that. At Saturday Night's Main Event, The Street King will rise. El Campeon is back," Priest said.
It remains to be seen who will emerge as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion at Saturday Night's Main Event at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Long Island, New York.
