Ex-WWE star reveals controversial Money in the Bank plans

A former WWE Superstar recently shared details about a controversial Money in the Bank Ladder Match. The name in question is James Ellsworth.

The 39-year-old was the focal point of the infamous Women's Money in the Bank Ladder Match in 2017. He retrieved the briefcase and dropped it to Carmella to end the bout. However, the then WWE SmackDown General Manager, Daniel Bryan, scheduled a rematch on the following edition of the blue brand's show, which The Princess Of Staten Island won once again.

Ellsworth recently took to X (formerly Twitter) to respond to a user stating that the backlash faced by the wrestling promotion after the controversial finish led to the rematch on SmackDown. The former WWE Superstar claimed that having a second match was the original plan all along.

The 39-year-old further noted that the rematch was expected to bring in good ratings on the Friday Night's show, which it did.

"Actually untrue, the second one was planned before the first one happened. Knowing it was a controversial finish and knowing the second one would pop a good rating on Smackdown, which it did! Thanks for remembering the moment!" he wrote.

Current WWE champion makes shocking revelation about their Money in the Bank cash-in

Women's World Champion, Liv Morgan, won the Women's Money in the Bank Ladder Match in 2022. She cashed in the contract the same night on Ronda Rousey to become the WWE SmackDown Women's Champion.

During her appearance on Chris Van Vliet's podcast, Liv Morgan opened up about her historic title win at the premium live event. The 30-year-old claimed she had no plan to cash in her contract the same night. She added that watching Rousey getting injured during the match, however, led to a change of mind.

''I didn’t think I was gonna cash in. I was in Vegas. I was like, 'Well, I just won Money in the Bank. This is like the biggest victory in my whole entire life. I’m gonna go celebrate. I’m gonna go gamble. I’m gonna go have some drinks. I’m gonna celebrate my victory.' And then I noticed that Ronda gets injured during the match, and I’m like, 'Oh, man, should I go? Should I not go?' I’m kind of having this moment of, 'What do I do?' And then I finally was like, 'I’m gonna go,''' she said.

Liv Morgan is currently involved in an intriguing storyline with Dominik Mysterio. It will be interesting to see what lies ahead for the Women's World Champion with the Money in the Bank Premium Live Event less than a fortnight away.
