Ex-WWE Superstar declares himself as current champion after Saturday Night's Main Event
The return of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on NBC was a memorable night. The two-hour special delivered a mix of thrilling action and nostalgia for fans.
One of the standout moments of the night occurred when Chelsea Green defeated Michin to become the inaugural Women’s United States Champion. Following her victory, Green is now headed to Disneyland with her husband, Matt Cardona. The former WWE star took to X/Twitter, humorously declaring himself as one-half of the current Women’s United States Champion.
"It’s official… I’m 1/2 of the @WWE Women’s United States Champion! 😜@ImChelseaGreen @Disneyland," Matt Cardona wrote.

Since leaving WWE in 2020, Cardona has established himself on the independent circuit. The former United States Champion recently appeared on AEW television, where he issued a challenge to Chris Jericho for the ROH World Championship.
Matt Cardona returning to WWE is "only a matter of time"
Matt Cardona made a name for himself in WWE, where he spent an impressive 15 years from 2005 to 2020. In a recent interview, Chelsea Green was asked about the possibility of her husband returning to WWE.
Green shared that she is patiently waiting for it to happen. She added that it was surprising that it hadn’t occurred yet. However, Green feels that it's only a matter of time before Cardona makes his way back to the Stamford-based company.
"I am patiently waiting. Because not that I want to be partnered up with him [Matt Cardona] in WWE, that would be great. I think we could have an amazing mixed match, tag team division, whatever it is. But I don’t know. I don’t know why, I would love to know why. I would love to be a fly on the wall of kind of like the meetings of the top guys in WWE. But I do feel like in my heart of hearts, it’s only a matter of time. It feels crazy that he wouldn’t be," she said. [23:42-24:19]
