Ex-WWE Superstar says creative freedom is "idiotic and should not happen" (Exclusive)
Major wrestling companies, including WWE, have often struggled with conflicts between superstars and the creative department over the years. According to a former name in the promotion, EC3, the entire concept of creative freedom for stars is problematic.
EC3, creator of the Control Your Narrative (CYN) wrestling project, is all for offering wrestlers the chance to shape their own stories. However, he also claimed that this has to be handled delicately so as not to lose focus of the presentation by prioritizing individual characters. According to him, WWE's creative team and talent are not cooperative with each other to make things work.
Speaking on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws hosted by Mac Davis, the former WWE star stated:
"The talent can't always be right. Trust me. The term creative freedom in wrestling for wrestlers is idiotic and should not happen because wrestlers are insanely vain and insanely self-focussed. But great writing with great talent creates collaboration, which creates great art, entertainment, wrestling." [7:30 onwards]

The former WWE star also commented on the state of The Wyatt Sicks
WWE does not exactly have a great record of handling supernatural gimmicks, which has caused concerns about The Wyatt Sicks faction. However, EC3 thinks the new faction can succeed well if a few things are handled differently.
Speaking on the same episode of The Wrestling Outlaws, the reigning NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion stated that all the members of Wyatt Sicks were talented in their own right.
"If you treat it completely different, it has a shot to be huge. But if you kind of let it become something that is just like everything else, it is gonna be weird. As far as the talent, you know, Nikki Cross is amazing. Sam Shaw, aka Dexter Lumis, is one of the, how do I describe him, I don't know he is like Dexter in real life. So it's really cool to see him succeed, and he's always been a very good guy. Rowan's good to see back." [2:12 onwards]
For now, only time will tell how the creative department will handle The Wyatt Sicks going forward.
