Ex-WWE writer reveals Vince McMahon's shocking truth about title decisions (Exclusive)
Former WWE head writer Vince Russo recently spoke about Vince McMahon deciding to put titles on stars. The 79-year-old was a major force behind the company's creative process for over three decades.
McMahon bought the company from his father and then embarked on the path of global expansion. He made WWE a global juggernaut in sports entertainment. However, the former CEO and chairman was involved in several controversies throughout his tenure. He retired from TKO Group Holdings after a lawsuit from ex-employee Janel Grant accused him of sex trafficking.
On the latest episode of Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW, Vince Russo pointed out that throughout his tenure as the head writer for the company, Vince McMahon never put a title on a star because they deserved it. He detailed that putting a championship on a performer was only done to get wrestlers over and generate revenue for the company.
"I said nothing disrespectful. I gave the writer's point of view and I said never one time was I in a creative meeting with Vince McMahon where he said we're putting the title on somebody because they deserve it. That's what I said." [From 5:08 onwards]
With McMahon gone, Triple H is in charge of the creative department at WWE. He is currently the chief content officer of the company.
