"Fans can see through the BS" - John Cena takes a shot at current WWE Superstar's gimmick

As one of WWE's most experienced performers, John Cena has revealed what he said to one of the company's youngest stars, Austin Theory, when they worked together.

The current United States Champion and Cena faced off this past April at WrestleMania 39. Ahead of their match, the 16-time World Champion verbally cut Theory down to size with a scathing promo on RAW.

During a recent conversation on Notsam Wrestling, Cena said that he privately told Austin that his current WWE character is not working. This came before he publicly told him the same thing in front of a live crowd:

"Fans can see through the BS if you don't believe in your character. It's what I said to Austin Theory, 'Dude, you are young, you are athletic, you will work for this company, you'll do interviews, you'll go X, Y, and Z. I don't believe what you do when you're out there, I don't. I said it to him personally before I said it publicly." [H/T f4wonline]

The 46-year-old has only wrestled two singles matches since 2021, with his commitment to Hollywood overtaking his desire to compete in a WWE ring.

Wrestling veteran wants John Cena to have one more match against a WWE Icon

During his pro wrestling career, the leader of Cenation has faced off against many top superstars, including Randy Orton, Roman Reigns, Triple H, and Batista.

One rivalry that may have surpassed all of these is his feud with The Rock. Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's UnSKripted, veteran wrestling journalist Bill Apter said he'd like to see the two legends face off once more.

"Let's bring the movies into this. Maybe it's gotta be John Cena vs. 'It doesn't matter' [The Rock]. Maybe John Cena and The Rock. Can you imagine?" said Bill Apter. [18:18 - 18:32) [H/T Sportskeeda]

Cena and The Rock went to battle on two separate occasions, first at WrestleMania 28 in 2012 and then a year later at the same event. Both matches saw each star come away with a win.
