Fans should be worried about Gunther's future in WWE; veteran writer sounds off warning bells (Exclusive)
Former WWE head writer Vince Russo feels Gunther's current booking can ruin his star power. The 37-year-old is the World Heavyweight Champion on RAW.
Last week, Damian Priest got the better of The Ring General during a verbal exchange, as he claimed Gunther was not the same man and he couldn't defeat him. On Monday, the World Heavyweight Champion launched a blindside attack on Priest. However, the assault backfired as The Archer of Infamy stood tall in the end.
This week on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Legion of RAW, Vince Russo mentioned that WWE was doing a disservice to Gunther with his booking. He felt the champion was unnecessarily being made to look weak in this feud with Priest. The veteran writer was worried for The Ring General because the creative team didn't know what to do with him.
"If you know what you're doing, it's never too late for anybody. It really isn't However, if you don't know what you're doing, you can literally kill a talent. It's a very, very fine line. So if it were me, would I be worried about Gunther? No. But with who they have and what they have [sic] writing the show, absolutely one hundred percent." [From 9:45 onwards]
After a couple of weeks of humiliation, it will be interesting to see how the champion retaliates against his challenger. The Ring General will defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Damian Priest at Survivor Series: WarGames.
