Female WWE interviewer wants to see a hockey player in a wrestling ring, asks CM Punk for help
Over the years, WWE fans have witnessed multiple unexpected names grace the squared circle. Mainstream celebrities like Bad Bunny and Logan Paul have found much success inside the ring. Meanwhile, a backstage personality wants a hockey player do the same.
RAW correspondent Jackie Redmond recently discussed the possibility of seeing a hockey name trade their skates for wrestling boots in an interview with Gabby AF. Redmond said if Pat McAfee, who is a former football player, could get a match, a hockey personality might also get the opportunity to showcase their talent inside the squared circle.
She also mentioned that CM Punk could help her bring in a hockey star, as he is also a big fan of the sport like her. Redmond also named Otis and Jey Uso as their potential trainers.
"Pat McAfee got a match, former football player. Why can't a hockey player get a match at some point down the road? Who knows, we’ll see. But CM Punk can try to help me make that happen, maybe. I don't know. A big hockey fan, so is Otis. Jey [Uso] is becoming one over time," Jackie Redmond said.
A popular ex-WWE name wanted to take up a different role before her exit
Samantha Irvin shocked the world by announcing her departure from WWE last month. Reportedly, she left the Stamford-based company to pursue a music career.
While responding to a fan's comment on her Instagram post, Irvin revealed she didn’t love announcing. She disclosed that it was merely a way for her to enter the pro wrestling industry. The 35-year-old was more interested in playing an on-screen role.
She pitched ideas of being a manager and even a general manager, but they were seemingly rejected by the creative team.
"I don’t like announcing, I’m serious! Announcing was only supposed to be my way in. I wanted to manage, maybe even become a general manager one day. But WWE saw no other future for me besides announcer. I love watching the action, but I don’t love being an announcer,” wrote Samantha Irvin.
It will be interesting to see whether Jackie Redmond actually makes her WWE in-ring debut at some point.
