Female WWE star gives LA Knight new nickname following SmackDown
Perhaps an obvious match for SummerSlam, considering how WWE has booked LA Knight in the last few weeks, was disclosed on this week's SmackDown. The 41-year-old signed a contract to face United States Champion Logan Paul at the upcoming premium live event. It appears Triple H and Co. will milk this storyline to the max before Paul is forced to agree and the contest is made official.
Before The Megastar cut his in-ring promo with the US Title contract in hand, he was seen backstage walking out of the office of SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis. Chelsea Green, Piper Niven, and Pretty Deadly were standing in line outside for Aldis.
Chelsea, especially, was waiting for a long to escalate her grievances to the blue brand's sheriff. This made it all the more annoying for her when LA Knight walked out of his office with the contract and Knight informed her that Aldis was busy. On Instagram, Green mocked both Pretty Deadly and The Megastar in a recap video posted by WWE:
"Send the Sparkle Sisters and Mr Too Tanned Knight to the back of the line," Chelsea Green's comment read.
Knight and Paul's issues began in May when the two met outside the general manager's office. Despite the 41-year-old's efforts to lure The Maverick into a title match, the latter did not budge. Logan Paul considers LA Knight to be beneath him.
Logan Paul articulated the essence of his rivalry with LA Knight in WWE
On an episode of his ImPaulsive podcast in the summer of 2023, Logan Paul admitted that he has disdain for LA Knight.
Paul and Knight had worked two in-ring promo segments ahead of last year's Money in the Bank event. They even worked the titular match inside The O2 Arena in London. Regarding The Megastar, Logan Paul stated:
""I see old man Ricker, LA Knight, coming in the WWE. They love him. I hate that they love him, and they hate me that I hate him. We got a little bit of a thing. [...] I don't think he gets my thing that well, and neither does the WWE Universe. He sort of speaks for them. They appreciate the time, and the fact that he's earned it, and I get that, and I'd love to take that all away in one night."
LA Knight assured the fans in attendance this past Friday night that at SummerSlam, he will take away the United States Championship from Logan Paul. If he manages to do so, it will mark The Megastar's first title win in WWE.
