Finn Balor makes shocking claim about WWE RAW Superstar
The WWE RAW roster features several notable superstars as this new era continues. Finn Balor is a member of The Judgment Day and one-half of the World Tag Team Champions with JD McDonagh. The top talent has just made a very bold claim about one of his colleagues.
Gunther recently became WWE's 23rd King of the Ring. The 36-year-old made his name around the world as WALTER, then signed with WWE in January 2019. He has been a dominant force ever since, either by himself or with Imperium. Gunther is widely praised by fans and wrestlers, including fellow red brand star Balor.
The Irish Young Gun has declared The Ring General to be the greatest wrestler on the planet right now. In his recent appearance on the What's The Story? podcast, Balor talked about why he's a fan of Gunther. He noted how he gets so over-saturated as a fan of 35 years, so he's rarely interested unless King Gunther is in the ring.
"WALTER, Gunther... whatever you wanna call him, in my opinion, is probably the best performer on Earth right now. In my opinion, to watch in the ring. I want to see everything that he does. There’s no bits where I know what he’s going to do for the next 5 minutes... he's truly interesting to me," Finn Balor said. [From 5:47 to 6:23]
Gunther is set to do battle with Balor's brother in The Judgment Day, Damian Priest. The 2024 SummerSlam PLE will see Priest defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Gunther, a title shot he earned for winning King of the Ring.
Finn Balor tells WWE officials he wants big match
Finn Balor may be occupied with issues within The Judgment Day, and with defending the RAW Tag Team Championship, but he also remains focused on his own singles career.
The Prince has informed WWE officials that he still wants to wrestle Gunther. Balor appeared on What's The Story? and confirmed that his new WWE contract is for five years, adding that a match with The Ring General is one of the few he still wants to have.
WWE sent Balor to NXT UK in 2020 to call the then-NXT UK Champion out, warning that he was on borrowed time. The dream match never happened due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The man also known as The Demon has not given up on making this a reality.
"That’s one of the few matches in my career that I want to have. We tried to set it up right before COVID in NXT UK, and then the world kind of had a different plan for us. Then we kind of went a different way, and now we're kind of both heels. So, I'm not sure how it's going to work out, but I have expressed my opinion to the office, that I would love to get that match in the future. So, fingers crossed... I've got 5 years on my deal, so we can get it done in the next 5 years [laughs]," Finn Balor said. [6:24 to 6:55]
Balor and Gunther first worked together during the WWE UK tour in November 2021 as Balor and Cesaro defeated Gunther and Sheamus. The two international stars then worked four Fatal Four Way bouts on the UK tour this past April. The match also included Chad Gable and the winner, Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn.
