Finn Balor reveals when he was originally supposed to face Edge; it wasn't WrestleMania
At WrestleMania 39, Finn Balor lost to Edge in a Hell in a Cell Match. According to Balor, the two superstars weren't supposed to face each other at The Grandest Stage of Them All.
Balor is currently a member of The Judgment Day. He joined the faction after replacing Edge, who was booted out by Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley.
Speaking on What's The Story, Balor revealed he was originally set to face Edge at NXT UK TakeOver: Dublin.
"We were building to a Dublin TakeOver. It was supposed to happen in April 2020, when things shutdown. It got postponed until October, and eventually got canceled. The match was supposed to be Finn Balor vs. Edge. That got kind of canceled and postponed and we started to work towards me and WALTER. Then the wheels fell off," said Balor [H/T - Fightful]
Finn Balor discussed the backstory for his match against Edge
Speaking in the same interview, Finn Balor revealed that he and Edge had to go through a lot of difficulties in the lead-up to their match.
Balor stated that both he and Edge were annoyed regarding how the day had gone. He added:
"There's a whole backstory to the whole day. But we pretty much got frustrated with a lot of things that were happening on that day. The match we wanted to do wasn't the match we ended up doing. And we had to change a lot of things, like last minute. Literally 20 minutes before it went down. I think we both were a little bit annoyed with just how the day had gone."
Balor is currently one-half of the reigning WWE World Tag Team Champions with JD McDonagh. The Judgment Day duo received a helping hand from Liv Morgan to dethrone R-Truth and The Miz. The faction is currently involved in the Morgan, Rhea Ripley, and Dominik Mysterio storyline.
