Finn Balor's canceled plans at WWE event never made sense, says veteran (Exclusive)
Finn Balor was recently booked to have a singles match at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event, which was changed to a Triple Threat bout on Monday. According to two veterans, it was a good idea to make the change.
Given the brewing rivalry between Balor and Gunther, it made sense to have them face each other in a singles match at the upcoming event. The World Heavyweight Title being on the line increased the importance of the contest. However, Adam Pearce recently added Damian Priest to the bout. For those unaware, Priest has his own grudge against both The Prince and The Ring General.
On Sportskeeda Wrestling's UnSKripted, Dr. Chris Featherstone shared his thoughts on the development.
"I think that it wasn't marquee enough. Plus you had two heels fighting (...) I did think that there was gonna be eventually a Triple Threat, but I am actually glad that they put that on Saturday Night's Main Event because it makes, it looks better billboard-wise. As far as Finn Balor and Gunther are concerned, Finn Balor can play spoiler, with his size and things like that." [21:48 onwards]
Hall of Fame journalist Bill Apter agreed with Featherstone, mentioning how Balor vs. Gunther in a one-on-one bout didn't make much sense.
"I think Finn is a little too, Finn is a little too small against Gunther. I don't know it just didn't seem, and again no knock to him [Finn]. He is terrific, he is amazing. But I just didn't see it as a world title match." [22:37 onwards]

Only time will tell how the high-stakes match will pan out at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event.
