Finn Balor teases rumored return of popular alter-ego following major WWE loss
WWE Bad Blood was a rollercoaster of a night for The Judgment Day. Damian Priest defeated Finn Balor, and that was just the beginning. After Balor's major post-Bad Blood warning, sources are reporting on the future shocking comeback of a familiar face for The Judgment Day.
The Prince lost to The Archer of Infamy at Bad Blood in their first singles bout since joining forces in 2022. The former Universal Champion began with a slap to the face, but Priest unleashed a brutal response and fought off JD McDonagh and Carlito to win. Despite the loss, WWE noted that Judgment Day is more dangerous than before after Raquel Rodriguez returned to help Liv Morgan retain the Women's World Championship over Rhea Ripley by DQ.
The WWE Universe is now speculating on The Demon King's return to action after Finn's post-Bad Blood warning. Furthermore, Cory Hays of PWN indicated on X that Balor will deal with Priest by bringing back his alter-ego, which has not been seen since losing to Edge inside Hell in a Cell at WrestleMania 39.
WWE released the following backstage footage of The Judgment Day helping Balor after Saturday's loss. The 23-year veteran issued an ominous warning to Priest, initially fueling speculation on The Demon King. Carlito ended the clip by promising that this feud would not be over in a long shot.
"This ain't over, Damian! This ain't over because right when you least expect it... I'll be waiting," Finn Balor said.
The Demon, also billed as The Demon King at times, is Balor's otherworldly alter-ego. WWE has touted how Finn channels mysterious forces while portraying the character, which allows him to captivate fans and become almost unstoppable.
Finn Balor's recent remarks on The Demon in WWE
Finn Balor debuted The Demon King three months after his official NXT arrival. He portrayed the gimmick to team with Hideo Itami for a win over The Ascension in December 2014 at TakeOver: R Evolution.
The Demon would defeat Tyler Breeze, Neville, Samoa Joe (twice), Kevin Owens (twice), Bray Wyatt, AJ Styles, Seth Rollins, Andrade, Baron Corbin, and Bobby Lashley. Demon's three losses were to Joe, Edge, and Roman Reigns. Speaking to WrestleZone in April, the current World Tag Team Champion was asked about The Demon possibly returning.
"Yeah I still get some requests, but there is a time and a place for The Demon and right now is certainly not the time. I am very invested in what I am doing now as Finn with Damian. We’re doing something completely new with The Judgment Day, something that has been working really well the past 2 years. I’m sure in the future there will be a time and a place but right now, I am very comfortable and focused with what I am doing with The Judgment Day," Finn Balor said. [H/T to Inside The Ropes]
Fans have argued that The Demon King perfectly fits The Judgment Day. Balor previously stated that he felt like The Demon was used as a crutch, and as cool as the gimmick is, it was making Finn "less cool." After moving on as The Prince in 2021, Balor said The Demon would be a step back.
