First-time-ever singles showdown could headline SummerSlam, says analyst, over WWE title match
WWE SummerSlam 2024 is set to be held at the Cleveland Browns Stadium, in Cleveland, Ohio on August 3rd, Saturday. The premium live event will feature stars from both Monday Night RAW and Friday Night SmackDown roster. Ahead of the show, WWE analyst Sam Roberts discussed which match could headline The Biggest Party of the Summer.
Cody Rhodes will defend his Undisputed WWE Championship against Solo Sikoa and Damian Priest will battle Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship in a highly anticipated match-up.
Meanwhile, Drew McIntyre is set to lock horns with CM Punk in a singles match for the first time ever. Although The Scottish Warrior and The Second City Saint have shared the ring in Royal Rumbles, this will be their first one-on-one encounter. At The Biggest Party of the Summer, Seth "Freakin" Rollins will serve as the Special Guest Referee for a bout between the RAW stars.
On his Notsam Wrestling EMERGENCY podcast, Sam Roberts stated that he believes CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre could close the PLE in Cleveland because it is a big money match, potentially overshadowing The American Nightmare's bout against The Bloodline member.
"I would imagine Solo Sikoa vs. Cody Rhodes is closing SummerSlam. I stand by Drew McIntyre vs. CM Punk could close any pay-per-view it's on including SummerSlam. And Drew McIntyre vs CM Punk may still close SummerSlam (...) I would get it if that happened. I do think that with Seth Rollins in there as the Special Guest Referee it is a sort of big swirling red light," he said. [From 22:12 to 22:49]

Former WWE personality predicts the winner of Drew McIntyre vs. CM Punk at SummerSlam 2024
Former host of The Bump show, Matt Camp revealed his prediction for the first-time-ever singles showdown between The Scottish Warrior and The Straight Edge Superstar.
On his The Wrestling Matt podcast, Camp mentioned that the finish of the match is obvious. The former WWE RAW Talk host claimed that Seth Rollins would probably end up unintentionally costing CM Punk the match and McIntyre has to go over at SummerSlam.
"Seth cost Punk, doesn't mean to [but] he does. Drew gets the win. The heel should win the first one. It's typically how it goes. If you're gonna do more than one, the heel wins the first one. Drew is 'technically' the heel. And you can spin that off, you know. We don't go right back to Punk and Drew. Maybe there's a Punk-Seth match in there first. Maybe there's a Triple Threat Match in there first. Maybe Bad Blood gets us back to Drew and Punk," said Matt Camp.
Only time will tell if The Visionary will play a deciding role in the much-awaited match at WWE SummerSlam between Punk and McIntyre.
