"Forget me" - Major WWE name rooting for Finn Bálor at Saturday Night's Main Event
WWE Superstar Finn Bálor has spent the better part of the last three years as a despicable heel. Despite this, there is a section of the fanbase who believes Bálor deserves a run with the world title owing to how things ended the first and only time he won it back in 2016. Among this group is none other than Kevin Owens.
While discussing WWE Saturday Night's Main Event this weekend, where both Owens and Bálor will be contending for major world championships, The Prizefighter noted that Finn Bálor deserves a second chance.
In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Kevin Owens surprisingly revealed that he would rather have The Prince walk out of this Saturday's show with the World Heavyweight Championship than him with the Undisputed WWE Championship. That is if only one were going to win.
"Forget me," Owens said. "Finn got the short end of the stick more than anyone because he won the Universal Title, then never even had the chance to show what he could do with it. And then, you know, after that you can count on one hand probably the number titles matches he's had and stuff. So, yeah, I would love to see him walk out with that title."
Unfortunately for Bálor, he has World Heavyweight Champion Gunther to wrestle this Saturday, as well as his former stablemate Damian Priest. The former Judgment Day star and he have had a bitter rivalry since SummerSlam in August. Finn Bálor claimed this past Monday that this is a good thing because he can end things once and for all with Priest and win the belt.
Kevin Owens says he and Finn Bálor should prevail at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event
The "perfect scenario," as Kevin Owens put it, is for him and Finn Bálor to walk out of Saturday Night's Main Event with world titles.
In the same interview with Sports Illustrated, KO talked about his real-life friendship with The Prince, calling the former Universal Champion a "brother." The Prizefighter wants to share a moment with Finn Bálor after the two win their respective championship matches:
"If you're asking me what my perfect scenario would be for Saturday night. I wanna see Finn Balor win the World Heavyweight Championship. I wanna win the WWE title." Owens said. "Just on a personal level for both of us, we've been friends since the moment we got to WWE together at the same time. [We've gotten] very close. I really do consider him like a brother. I would just love to share that with him."
The American Nightmare has been champion since WrestleMania XL, while Gunther won the belt at SummerSlam. Although Rhodes losing is not practical, according to a large section of the WWE Universe, a strong case can be made for Owens to walk away with the belt.
