Former champion claims she needs to retire major move following WWE Crown Jewel 2024
A major WWE star claimed she had to retire one of her devastating moves after it went awry at Crown Jewel. The star in question competed in a title match at the premium live event today in Saudi Arabia.
Piper Niven and Chelsea Green competed in the Fatal Four-Way tag team match for the Women's Tag Team Championship at Crown Jewel. During the match, Niven set up for a Vader Bomb on Jade Cargill, but the former AEW star got out of the way. The Scottish star accidentally hit Green with the move and noted that she should probably retire the Vader Bomb following WWE Crown Jewel.
"I gotta retire that Vader bomb 💀," she wrote.
Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair retained the Women's Tag Team Championship at Crown Jewel to extend their impressive title reign. Piper Niven and Chelsea Green captured the titles last year but lost them to Katana Chance and Kayden Carter in December 2023.
Former WWE writer praises Piper Niven's athleticism
Wrestling veteran Vince Russo recently praised Piper Niven after an impressive performance on WWE SmackDown.
Michin (Mia Yim) defeated Niven in a singles match on the September 27 edition of the blue brand. The veteran also got the better of Chelsea Green in a Dumpster Match on the October 4 episode of SmackDown.
Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's BroDown on Backstage Pass, Russo praised the 33-year-old as a performer, noting that Niven was a star and was a great athlete for her size.
"I know [Michin] is a fan favorite with the marks. I understand that. But when I'm looking at this match bro, Piper Niven is the star. Piper Niven is the attraction, Piper Niven is the money. Not [Michin], Piper Niven. When you are that size and you can move the way you do, you are an attraction. You are a superior athlete. That's the money. The money is in Piper Niven." Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair captured the Women's Tag Team Championship from The Unholy Union earlier this year at the WWE Bash in Berlin. Only time will tell which team is next in line to challenge the popular duo for the titles.
