Former champion gets angry at interviewer after losing title match at NXT Heatwave

Former NXT North American Champion Wes Lee has been in a state of disarray after losing the opening match at NXT Heatwave. He even got mad at the interviewer for approaching him backstage.

In the first match of the incredible NXT Heatwave show, NXT North American Champion Oba Femi faced Wes Lee. In a great match, with the two stars demonstrating incredible chemistry, the dominant Nigerian champion picked up the win - effectively ending Wes Lee's story with the North American Title - a championship that he held longer than anyone in terms of individual reigns in the developmental brand.

Wes Lee seemed upset after his loss at NXT Heatwave and initially seemed to refuse the interview. However, he did speak for a little bit and admitted that Oba Femi was the better man and that he was bested. He stated that tonight was supposed to be about him regaining the title.

There seemed to be a mix of acceptance and denial at the same time during his post-match interview. It does, of course, leave the question of where Wes Lee goes from here.

Some might argue that he's main roster ready, while others might want him to move up to the NXT Championship picture - currently dominated by Trick Williams.

The opening match did prove that Wes Lee and Oba Femi have a lot of chemistry and tore the house down tonight.
