Former champion makes highly-anticipated return to RAW after 9 months following ACL injury
The May 20 episode of Monday Night RAW was filled with big moments, a lot of backstage assaults, and one huge return. A former Tag Team Champion made her highly-anticipated return to the red brand after nine months.
In a backstage segment, Zoey Stark and Shayna Baszler, both of whom were knocked out in the Queen of the Ring quarterfinals, were preparing for their match to determine the number one contender for the Women's Tag Team Titles.
Out of nowhere, the camera revealed that Sonya Deville, who has been out with a torn ACL for nine months, made her return to Monday Night RAW. She would offer to talk to Zoey and Shayna, with the latter rejecting her and moving on while Zoey looked on confused.
Sonya Deville was previously an authority figure alongside Adam Pearce before eventually transitioning back into the ring.
Last year, Sonya Deville was one-half of the Women's Tag Team Champions on RAW before she suffered an ACL injury. Piper Niven then replaced her as Chelsea Green's partner.
Sonya Deville's return to the Women's division has been highly anticipated, and it appears as though a managerial role might be what she is going for.
