Former champion ready to wrestle again after 3 years to face Gunther in WWE, son says (Exclusive)
Gunther has been one of WWE's most prominent superstars since joining the main roster in April 2022. Gage Goldberg, the son of Bill Goldberg, recently addressed his father's physical condition ahead of a possible match against The Ring General.
Bill Goldberg has not wrestled since losing to Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber in February 2022. The former Universal Champion recently revealed he plans to retire from in-ring competition in 2025. The announcement came shortly after he got involved in a confrontation with Gunther, prompting speculation they could face each other.
In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling Senior Editor Bill Apter, Gage Goldberg said his 57-year-old father will be ready to face the World Heavyweight Champion:
"I know he's still got it. He's got a little while to prepare. I know he works his butt off in the gym every day. He's getting his cardio up. I already know that he's gonna be ready for that fight one hundred percent. And I don't really know if age can be a factor with my dad because it's a switch in his head that, when it's flipped, it's just game over." [1:23 – 1:49]

What happened between Bill Goldberg and Gunther?
On October 5, Bill Goldberg watched the Bad Blood Premium Live Event from ringside with his son and wife. During an in-ring segment, Gunther berated the WCW icon as a wrestler and questioned his abilities as a father.
Bill Goldberg hopped over the barricade before being held back by security outside the ring. Sami Zayn then attacked Gunther out of nowhere, forcing the Austrian to escape up the ramp.
Since then, the World Heavyweight Champion has retained his title against Zayn and Damian Priest on television. He also lost against Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes in a match for the WWE Crown Jewel Championship.
