Former Champion's 1529-day unfortunate WWE streak comes to an end on RAW

This week's episode of WWE RAW was built around the return of Rhea Ripley, but she wasn't the only one who was looking to make a mark. Sonya Deville wrestled her first singles match in 12 months, taking on Zelina Vega.

It was a quick match that saw Deville pick up the win with The Devil's Advocate, after interference from Shayna Baszler. This was interestingly the first singles win Baszler had been able to achieve since May 2020 when she defeated Mandy Rose.

It has been so long since her last singles win that Rose has since competed in NXT, become NXT Women's Champion, formed Toxic Attraction, and been released from WWE. Mandy Rose was released almost two years ago and has since made a name for herself outside of the ring.

Deville in that time has moved from SmackDown to RAW and has become Women's Tag Team Champion with Chelsea Green. However, her ACL injury in the summer of last year derailed her momentum as she was forced to vacate the title and undergo surgery.

Deville got married during her time on the sidelines and returned a few weeks ago with a new attitude and the desire to help Zoey Stark and Shayna Baszler finally be taken seriously on WWE RAW.
