Former champion’s undefeated record comes to an end on WWE RAW
This week's edition of WWE RAW was one to forget for Cody Rhodes as Brock Lesnar cost him a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship. The loss also ended The American Nightmare's undefeated record on weekly TV shows since his return to the company.
The former Intercontinental Champion has been booked as a megastar since his return to the Stamford-based promotion last year at WrestleMania. During this run, Rhodes has defeated the likes of Seth Rollins, Finn Balor, and many more. He even handed Solo Sikoa his first clean loss on the main roster, defeating The Enforcer on WWE RAW before WrestleMania 39.
While Cody may have come up short against Roman Reigns at The Showcase of the Immortals, his record on RAW and SmackDown had been impeccable before tonight. The American Nightmare was in action against Finn Balor and The Miz in a triple-threat match, with the winner advancing to the semi-finals of the ongoing tournament for the World Heavyweight Championship.
Rhodes was on the cusp of victory when Brock Lesnar came out to rain on his parade, which resulted in the former suffering his first loss on RAW or SmackDown.
Brock Lesnar also challenged the former AEW star to a match at Night of Champions after laying him out on WWE RAW. It'll be interesting to see if any stipulation is added to the second match between them at Night of Champions.
