Former champion says going back to WWE wasn't his goal after he got released
WWE released multiple stars in 2021 due to budget cuts, and Karrion Kross was one of them. Triple H brought him back to the company the following year after Vince McMahon stepped down.
The Doomwalker confronted Drew McIntyre and Roman Reigns when he returned on an episode of SmackDown. He also came back with Scarlett, which was the first time that the two stars were paired on the main roster. They currently run a villainous faction on RAW known as The Final Testament.
During a recent interview with Insight's Chris Van Vliet, Karrion Kross was asked whether his goal was to return to WWE when he went back to the Indies following his release. He said:
"No... Sometimes I had good days and sometimes bad days. I was like this all the time. Anyone would ever ask me if I was okay, I would say, 'Yes, I'm doing great.' I was not doing great all the time. I didn't want sympathy, I didn't want people to worry. I knew no matter how things were going to land, I was going to be okay. I was going to be able to provide for myself, my family, my wife. I knew that," said Kross. [From 48:25 to 49:04]

Karrion Kross says Scarlett told him many times that WWE would call him back
When The Harbinger of Doom was in NXT, he had his wife by his side. However, Scarlett disappeared during his short stint on RAW in 2021.
While speaking in the same interview, Karrion Kross revealed Scarlett told him every day that the company would eventually call him back:
"I was happy being on the independents and I became okay with not being in WWE. My wife, every day, was telling me, 'They're going to call back, they're going to call back.' And it was just something I didn't even really want to think about because we were developing a life outside of WWE and creating a new foundation of how to support our lives and stuff." Kross and Scarlett are among the long list of people that Triple H re-hired after he gained control of the Stamford-based promotion.
