Former Intercontinental Champion seemingly interested in returning to WWE under Triple H's regime
Triple H has brought several superstars back to WWE since he took over as the Chief Content Officer and head of creative. One former Intercontinental Champion is seemingly interested in returning to the Stamford-based company after Chelsea Green suggested it. That would be Matt Cardona, who was formerly known as Zack Ryder.
In an interview with the Gorilla Position podcast, Green was asked about the possibility of being Cardona's valet if he returned to WWE. The Hot Mess was not interested in managing her real-life husband but would love to see Steph De Lander do the job instead.
"My husband is very high-strung, very, and we go about life differently. I'm an easygoing, easy-breezy girl. He is not an easy breezy girl. He is not at all. He is actually the opposite of an easy-breezy girl. So I would like him back, and then I would like him to be with Steph De Lander," Chelsea Green said. [H/T Fightful]
Matt Cardona seemingly agreed with his wife and reposted an article about her interview. The former Intercontinental Champion even shared a GIF of himself smirking on X/Twitter.

It is not the first time Cardona has teased the possibility of returning to the Stamford-based company. He was working in TNA Wrestling before suffering a pectoral muscle injury and with the Stamford-based promotion collaborating with TNA, nothing is impossible right now.
Matt Cardona does not want to return to WWE as Zack Ryder
In an interview on Insight with Chris Van Vliet in December 2023, Matt Cardona was asked about potentially returning to WWE. The 39-year-old star said he was interested as long as he did not return to the Stamford-based company as Zack Ryder. He called the character dead and described his current run on the indies as his "Hollywood Hogan run."
"I wasn't going to just tour the indies with the headband, the glasses, Woo Woo Woo. This is like my reinvention. This is my Hollywood Hogan run. If anything. But I knew I needed to change, I knew like Zack. Listen. So, so grateful for WWE. For Zack Ryder. That was my dream. I lived it. Highest of highs, lowest of lows. I'm forever grateful for that time. It set me up for who I am today. But it’s over. Zack Ryder is dead. And if I ever want to go back to WWE if it was up to me, it’d be as Matt Cardona," Cardona said. [H/T Wrestling Headlines]
Cardona also shared that he was surprised the Stamford-based company did not call him when they were doing re-hires. His wife, Chelsea Green, was among those who returned.
