Former manager vents frustration over WWE sticking LA Knight in a meaningless program on SmackDown

WWE star LA Knight is the current United States Champion on SmackDown. Former manager and wrestling veteran Jim Cornette feels Knight's current storyline isn't helping his career.

The Megastar has been embroiled in a bitter rivalry between Andrade and Carmelo Hayes. The two stars have been at each other's throats for weeks. Hayes even ruined Andrade's shot at the United States Championship.

In a recent clip from the Jim Cornette Experience, the veteran pointed out that Knight's current storyline with Carmelo Hayes and Andrade was not helping him in any way. He recalled when The Megastar reached main event status and was in marquee matches against top talents like Roman Reigns and other top WWE stars. Cornette felt now the champion was stuck in the midcard.

"My takeaway was dealing with these two f*cking schlubs does nothing for LA Knight. He got so over and everybody else was so over. He was interacting with other people that were so over. Now he's stuck here with these cretins." [From 2:37 - 2:55]

LA Knight defeated Carmelo Hayes this past week

Last Friday on SmackDown, LA Knight defended the United States Championship against Carmelo Hayes in a singles encounter.

During the match, Andrade made his way down to ringside, playing mind games with his long-time rival Hayes. Despite all the distractions, Melo took the fight to the champion. However, this was not enough, as Knight landed the BFT for a resounding win.

Hayes and Andrade are still not done. The stars have been through six matches against each other, both getting three wins apiece. With neither of them backing down, the two are bound to have another encounter soon.

It will be interesting to see whether Knight moves on from this feud in the coming weeks.
