Former Universal Champion set to make WWE in-ring return on SmackDown next week
On the latest episode of WWE SmackDown, it was announced that former Universal Champion Kevin Owens will have a match next week. He will go one-on-one with his former rival Grayson Waller.
During the show, Cody Rhodes gave KO a title shot at Bash in Berlin. Although The Prizefighter felt he didn't deserve it, he ended up accepting it after speaking to Nick Aldis and The American Nightmare backstage. Meanwhile, Waller and his partner Austin Theory lost to The Street Profits in a #1 contender's match for the WWE Tag Team Championship.
A-Town Down Under confronted Nick Aldis backstage and complained about how Kevin Owens was just given a title shot while they had to face the Profits to earn an opportunity at the tag titles. Aldis then told Grayson Waller that he will wrestle KO next week on SmackDown.
The two heel stars have a history with Owens, and it will be revisited next Friday night. The last time the former Universal Champion had a match on WWE SmackDown, he teamed up with Cody Rhodes against A-Town Down Under. Kevin Owens will make his in-ring return next week as he prepares to battle for the Undisputed WWE Title in Germany.
