Former champion announces change of gimmick following WWE RAW
This week's episode of WWE RAW included some surprising scenes. Pete Dunne attacked his former teammate Sheamus and seemingly turned heel for the first time since his move to the red brand.
The former United Kingdom Champion was known as Butch when working with The Brawling Brutes alongside Sheamus and Ridge Holland but has since returned to his former gimmick. Following the show, he appeared on RAW Talk where he announced the return of his Infamous Bruiserweight character.
"What are you asking me for? Go find Sheamus and ask him because he knows. As for tonight, I went out with receipts and Bronson Reed got his. So, let’s take tonight as a reintroduction to the Bruiserweight. The Bruiserweight is no corner man. I’m not here to lift people up, I tear people down."
Dunne was able to win the United Kingdom Championship back in 2017 while working as the Bruiserweight and had a record reign with the title until this was wiped out by Gunther, who was known as WALTER at the time.
Dunne was handed a new name and character when he was promoted to the main roster in 2022, so the current brand has never seen the Bruiserweight in action.
What does this mean for Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate on WWE RAW?
Teaming with Tyler Bate was the reason why Pete Dunne was handed his name back a few months ago but Bate recently suffered an injury on WWE NXT and has since been forced to undergo surgery.
The former Champion is expected to be out of action for the remainder of 2024, but when he returns Dunne and Bate could once again link up to show what they are capable of doing against each other. The two men stole the show several times over the United Kingdom Championship and could now be able to feud for a much bigger title on WWE RAW.
