Former World Heavyweight Champion says he should've dethroned Roman Reigns 2 years ago, not Cody Rhodes

Defeating Roman Reigns and ending his Undisputed WWE Championship reign was a huge feat for Cody Rhodes, who accomplished it this year at WrestleMania XL. One former world heavyweight champion, however, thinks he should have been the one to end the 1316-day reign of The Original Tribal Chief.

Drew McIntyre faced Reigns at Clash at the Castle 2022, in front of his family. However, he couldn't pick a win, after Solo Sikoa made his surprising main roster debut to help the Head of the Table retain his title.

In a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, the Scotsman addressed his loss against Reigns and stated that when Austin Theory came out to cash in his MITB contract during the match, he should have pinned the 27-year-old star to protect Roman Reigns and pick up a win.

"I think so. It's weird, because you look at certain moments and in the moment when you're living them you’re like this is ridiculous. We should have found a way out of this. Theory could have cashed in, and I could have pinned him because we had to protect The Bloodline and Roman at that time, that's the top story in the company, the top character. And perhaps at that time, I was like, I just feel this is a bad move," said McIntyre. [19:55 to 20:18]

While McIntyre did not directly name Cody Rhodes, it is clear from his words that he should have been the one to dethrone Roman Reigns, even if not pin him directly.

Roman Reigns addressed John Cena calling him the GOAT

John Cena has quite often associated the 'Greatest Of All Time' tag with Roman Reigns. However, WWE likes to address the 16-time World Champion with the same tag. In a recent appearance on Bloomberg, Reigns addressed Cena calling him the GOAT.

The Original Tribal Chief stated that he would agree with Cena because it takes a lot of hard work to become the face of the company and the latter knows about that.

"This is probably normally where I'd be like Paul, brag about me. But at the end of the day, it's subjective... As far as what John said, I kind of witnessed and observed his early reign, if you will, as being WWE's top guy, the face of the company. So, nobody knows better than everything that it takes to get to that point and to even be in the conversation. So, I guess I'm just going to agree with him." [17:20 - 18:40]

Roman Reigns is currently engaged in a feud with the new Tribal Chief, Solo Sikoa. The star is currently out of the picture after being taken out by the new Bloodline. It remains to be seen when he will return to television.
