Former WWE champion breaks silence after major loss on recent show

WWE hosted week two of the 2024 NXT's Great American Bash last night, which saw Pete Dunne and Trick Williams kick off the show. Following his loss to his opponent, Williams took to social media to share his thoughts.

Whoop That Trick lost his NXT Championship to Ethan Page at Heatwave 2024 PLE in a fatal four-way match that also included Shawn Spears and Je'Von Evans. A few weeks ago, the 30-year-old turned to The Bruiserweight for advice on reclaiming the title from All Ego, but Dunne told him to figure things out on his own.

On the August 6 edition of the Great American Bash, Trick Williams went one-on-one with Pete Dunne in a singles match. The two men were involved in a hard-fought battle until the former Brawling Brutes member capitalized on The Anointed One's overly aggressive tactics, countering the Trick Shot and delivering a devastating Bitter End to claim a decisive victory.

Later in a backstage segment, Whoop That Trick ambushed The Bruiserweight following his declaration of readiness to compete for the NXT Championship. Taking to X (Twitter), Trick Williams broke his silence on his significant defeat and subsequent outburst on the white-and-gold brand.

"I will be better," he wrote.

WWE Hall of Famer has massive praise for Trick Williams

With the legendary Shawn Michaels at the helm of the developmental brand for quite some time, The Anointed One held the NXT Championship on his shoulder before losing it to Page.

During a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, the WWE Hall of Famer heaped praise on Trick Williams and predicted a promising future for the rising 30-year-old star.

"Trick has an incredibly bright future. He’s amazing to work with on a day-to-day basis. He’s so receptive. He’s one of the hottest things in the business as a whole, but he’s still a humble kid, working and digging to get better every day. I really respect that," Shawn Michaels said.

The Heartbreak Kid also stated that he's excited for Whoop That Trick to make his potential main roster debut in the future. This week's NXT made it clear that the rivalry between Pete Dunne and Williams is far from over. It will be exciting to see these two WWE Superstars clash in a unique match on the white-and-gold brand.
