Former WWE champion breaks silence on surprise appearance in Mexico City

A former WWE champion has broken his silence following a surprise appearance at an event in Mexico City, Mexico. John "Bradshaw" Layfield, more famously known as JBL, accompanied Nic Nemeth for his title defense at Triplemania XXXII on Saturday.

JBL wrestled for various promotions when he was younger before making it big in WWE. He has performed in Japan for Network of Wrestling and in Mexico for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre or CMLL in the early 1990s.

For the first time since 2008, the 57-year-old retired superstar returned to Mexico. He was in Nemeth's corner for his match against Alberto El Patron for the AAA Mega Championship. He finally broke his silence following the surprise appearance in a post on his Instagram account.

"Fun night in Mexico City," JBL wrote.

Despite having JBL in his corner, Nic Nemeth failed to defend the AAA Mega Championship against the star formerly known as Alberto Del Rio during his time in WWE. It should be pointed out that "Bradshaw" is still signed with WWE as an ambassador, which made his appearance more shocking.

However, the company has been making collaborations with other promotions such as TNA Wrestling and Pro Wrestling NOAH. One of its goals is to make it big globally and partnering with promotions around the world is a good start.

JBL recently praised disgraced former WWE Chairman

Vince McMahon was accused by former WWE employee Janel Grant of sex trafficking back in January. Despite all the allegations against McMahon, JBL praised the ex-chairman for being good to him and to many other people but acknowledged that he could only comment on his experience with him.

"I have no idea what happened and what’s truth and what isn't and I'm not diminishing any of it. I'm just telling you about my personal relationship. That's all we can speak about. I had a personal relationship with Vince and it was fantastic. He was very good to me and very good to a lot of the old guys that he didn't have to be good to," JBL said on 'Stories with Brisco and Bradshaw' podcast. [H/T - WrestlingNews.co]

JBL has been with the company since 1995 and has held various roles after retiring from wrestling in 2009.
