Former WWE champion comments on being paired with Cody Rhodes

A former WWE Superstar recently commented on once being paired with Universal Champion Cody Rhodes. The name in question is former Divas Champion Mickie James.

The 44-year-old was an integral part of the WWE roster during her run with the Stamford-based company before her release in 2010. Mickie James was involved in several memorable rivalries and moments back in the day. In 2007, she also teamed up with Cody Rhodes to take on the team of Daivari & Jillian Hall in a mixed tag-team match. The American Nightmare pinned his male counterpart to secure the win for his team.

WWE recently took to X (fka Twitter) to share the link to their recent YouTube video on some famous mixed tag teams. The list also featured Cody Rhodes and Mickie James. The former Women's Champion reshared the X post and wrote:

"Did someone say … [Cowboy hat face emoji] #HardcoreNightMare [The US Flag emoji]."

Former WWE writer predicts Solo Sikoa might dethrone Cody Rhodes

The American Nightmare is currently in a heated rivalry with Solo Sikoa. The Bloodline member pinned the Universal Champion to secure the win for his team in a six-man tag team match at Money in the Bank. The 31-year-old is now scheduled to face Rhodes for the title at SummerSlam.

While speaking on a recent edition of his Wrestling with Freddie podcast, former WWE writer Freddie Prinze Jr. predicted that Cody Rhodes might lose the title to Sikoa before recapturing it. He further stated that once Roman Reigns returns, The Bloodline members could move away from the title picture, leading to Rhodes defending his title against some other challengers:

"I think Cody has a chance to lose the title, but he'll get it back quickly the way Randy and John went back and forth with one another. That's the only way I see this story working without Roman Reigns coming back sooner rather than later to stop all of Solo's plans and say, 'No, no, no, no, no, I'm The Tribal Chief. You are not The Tribal Chief.' Cody's gonna have a different story, and we're gonna focus on this Bloodline story here, and there'll be other challengers for Cody Rhodes to face," he said. Last week on SmackDown, The Bloodline tied Rhodes to the ropes and brutally attacked former WWE Champion Randy Orton. The heel faction sent The Viper crashing through the announcer's desk as a helpless American Nightmare could only watch.
