Former WWE Champion confirms rumor about CM Punk's apology

CM Punk's blood feud with Drew McIntyre is going strong on WWE RAW with the added intrigue of when the match could happen. Punk has not been cleared to wrestle as of this writing.

Meanwhile, his former on-screen rival The Miz was asked point-blank recently about a rumor that had made the rounds last year. Did The Second City Saint apologize to The A-Lister?

Part of the reason CM Punk had an issue with The Miz was seemingly because the latter got to headline WrestleMania, something Punk could not do during his first WWE tenure. This is inspite of the fact that he held the company's top prize for over a year. He had made a distasteful comment about The Miz a few years ago.

Speaking on Unlikely with Adrian Hernandez, the former WWE Champion confirmed that Punk had when they met backstage in Chicago. Not the apology itself, but meeting The Straight Edge Superstar after all the time that had passed, The Miz admitted it was the last thing he had expected:

"Yeah, it was in Chicago, and I was just walking down the stairs, and he was standing there. We just locked eyes. Remember, he left a long time ago and has never been back, right, and it always felt like it was a ‘never going to happen’ type of thing. To see him backstage, I was like, ‘What?’ So we ended up having a really good conversation, and it was one of those moments where [it was] guys talking, and we kind of just buried the hatchet, I guess you could say," The Miz said.

During CM Punk's 434-day reign as WWE Champion between 2011 to 2013, The Miz had challenged him multiple times for the belt. They even locked horns on pay-per-view more than once.

CM Punk and The Miz were spotted backstage interacting with one another in January

The Miz had openly discussed CM Punk's supposed anger towards him, stating that he never knew what it was all about. Needless to say, it is water under the bridge at this point. The two men were spotted backstage in January at the Royal Rumble event. The Straight Edge Superstar calls for The A-Lister. You can watch the video clip below:

The Voice of the Voiceless is due for an in-ring return, while The Miz up until recently was one-half of the World Tag Team Champion on RAW. Their mutual friend and peer, John Cena, called The A-Lister the most underrated wrestler of all time in World Wrestling Entertainment.
