Former WWE Champion has major concerns over The Wyatt Sicks; questions credibility of important Triple H decision

The Wyatt Sicks made its much-anticipated debut on the June 17, 2024, episode of WWE RAW, wreaking havoc backstage and leaving bodies on the floor. However, former WWE Champion Rob Van Dam has some major concerns about the group.

The initial reception for The Wyatt Sicks has been overly positive, although there are some doubts about how the group will be presented moving forward. WWE answered some questions on Monday when they humanized Uncle Howdy and acknowledged that Bo Dallas was the man under the mask in an eerie segment.

Still, some people like Rob Van Dam have doubts about the dominant group. RVD was worried that the presentation might get over the top. However, he also brought out some examples of unorthodox characters that have thrived in WWE in the past. On his 1 of a Kind podcast, the Hall of Famer said:

"If it's about the character, then I can see it being cool. I can see it, you know? I remember way back even before I started watching wrestling like the Samoans would have like a heart and rip it open. They're eating a live heart or something and it's like it's [a] gimmick, it's cool for the character. I could see like Boogeyman, like he's spooky, he is scary. I could see him or maybe even Papa Shango like saying that they're casting a spell on you as long as you don't have to sell it and like pass out in the ring or act like that's a little too much for me." RVD is also concerned about The Wyatt Sicks potentially having superpowers

Another aspect of The Wyatt Sicks that worries Rob Van Dam is if the group has superpowers on television. The former WWE Champion explained that it might not work because it was challenging for pro wrestlers to sell supernatural maneuvers. During the same edition of 1 of a Kind, RVD explained that such acts only worked in movies.

"When it comes to selling superpowers, that's always going to be asking a lot in the world of wrestling not if you're in an action movie. But in wrestling, it's a bit much to ask people to buy in. Might give you a heart attack then, yeah, you're gonna get booed out of the building," Van Dam added. [3:44 - 4:07 in the video above]

Luckily for people like RVD worried about Uncle Howdy's group having superpowers, Triple H has made the right call. Fightful Select reported that The Wyatt Sicks would not have over-the-top supernatural abilities. The faction will likely have the usual smoke and popping-out-of-nowhere kind of abilities.
