Former WWE Champion might make his return on RAW after a career-threatening injury, says analyst, for a heartbreaking New Day segment

WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H has been cooking a big angle on Monday Night RAW. Meanwhile, wrestling analyst Sam Roberts recently entertained the thought of Big E coming back to address the visible friction between The New Day members. The former WWE Champion suffered a career-threatening neck injury in March 2022 and has since been inactive.

The tension has been mounting between Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston since The LWO unintentionally cost The New Day a chance at winning the World Tag Team Title a few weeks ago.

Interestingly, Karrion Kross has attempted to corrupt Xavier Woods' mind, which has caused friction between The New Day members lately. During the go-home episode of RAW ahead of Bad Blood, Xavier Woods ripped Rey Mysterio's mask off to pick up the win.

Later on in the show, Kingston questioned Woods about whether the erstwhile King of the Ring did that on purpose. The ongoing angle has fueled speculation about the disgruntled star potentially turning heel.

Speaking on the Notsam Wrestling podcast, WWE analyst Sam Roberts said that Big E could return to RAW at some point soon to prevent The New Day from breaking up.

"Just as we're ready to jump off the cliff; just as we're ready for The New Day to pass the point of no return and to break up, something happens! Whether that's Big E coming out and talking to them, because, at some point in this story, Big E does need to come back on TV and have a sit down, even if he can't wrestle, have a sit down with the two of them, and try to get them back on the same page,'' he said.

Roberts added:

''But maybe Big E gets involved, and it's still a blow up, and Xavier Woods storms out, and Kofi and Big E are just looking at each other like, 'I don't know what to do.''' [47:55-48:53]

Will Big E ever return to in-ring competition in WWE?

As noted above, Big E hasn't stepped foot inside the squared circle since suffering a devastating neck injury on the March 11, 2022, edition of SmackDown.

In a recent interaction with Kyle Odegard of Sports Talk Philly, the former WWE Champion said he would be getting scans in a few months to see if he's healthy enough to get back in the ring.

"More than anything, I’m just taking every day as it comes. I know that sounds like a cliché. But I get scans again in another three to six months, and if they look great and the doctors say it’s healthy for me to go back, then that’s something where we’ll sit down and talk about it," he said.

Despite being away from the ring, The New Day member continues to serve as a panelist for several WWE kick-off shows.
