Former WWE champion pushing for first Royal Rumble win this year
A former WWE champion is pushing for their first-ever win in a Royal Rumble Match. The name in question is Bayley.
The 34-year-old is one of the most decorated female superstars in WWE. The leader of Damage CTRL is the first ever Women's Grand Slam Champion in the history of the Stamford-based company. However, she has yet to win the Women's Royal Rumble Match. The match was introduced in the 2018 edition of the premium live event. Interestingly, all six iterations so far have had different winners.
In a conversation with Cageside Seats, The Role Model talked about several things, including Triple H's praise for her, Damage CTRL, and much more. She also expressed her desire to win the Women's Royal Rumble Match for the very first time and headline WrestleMania:
“Everybody knows that when you win the Royal Rumble, you get to point at the sign and the fireworks go off. That’s the stuff you dream about. I’m excited to feel that. I wanna feel that and I wanna get that singles match at WrestleMania,” she said. [H/T: Cageside Seats]
It will be interesting to see if Bayley wins at the premium live event to earn an opportunity to headline WrestleMania. It must be noted that the former Women's Champion has never contested a singles match at The Show of Shows.
WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley names Cody Rhodes as his pick to win the Royal Rumble 2024
Last year's winner of the Men's Royal Rumble Match, Cody Rhodes, was the first superstar to declare himself for this year's Rumble on the November 27 edition of RAW. Despite the win, The American Nightmare fell short against Roman Reigns in the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship title match at WrestleMania 39.
During his recent appearance on WWE's The Bump, Mick Foley picked Cody Rhodes as his favorite to win the match this year as well. The Hall of Famer believes it would be the perfect ending to the former AEW star's story:
"I would love to see Cody [Rhodes] back in the main event picture. I really would. I think that's the perfect ending to his story. I know that the fans were bitterly disappointed when Cody did not defeat Roman [Reigns] last year. But he went out on his own and he earned something more important than that WWE Title. He earned the respect of all the naysayers," Mick Foley said.
