Former WWE Champion ready to face Roman Reigns more than 10 years after their last match
A multi-time WWE Champion recently opened up a potential blockbuster match with Roman Reigns over a decade after they last met in the ring. CM Punk is keen on having a main event match with the Original Tribal Chief in the future.
Punk has been on a hiatus since Bad Blood 2024, where he defeated Drew McIntyre in a Hell in a Cell match and won their deeply personal months-long feud. Though he did tease a dream showdown with Seth Rollins a few weeks back, the latter is currently busy feuding with Bronson Reed on WWE RAW.
In a recent interview with Peter Rosenberg, CM Punk was asked about his dream opponents in the Stamford-based promotion. The Second City Saint quickly dropped Roman Reigns' name, saying they could bring the house down even if they merely had a promo exchange.
Furthermore, he also mentioned Cody Rhodes and The Rock as other big stars he would like to compete against.
“Then you talk about the money stuff, you talk about the marquee stuff. You talk about what is the match you could see main eventing a pay-per-view. That’s what gets my juices flowing. I think whenever myself and Roman Reigns are face-to-face on television, I think that’s gonna be a moment. The table is set for myself and Cody. You also never know when The Rock is gonna come back.” (H/T - Ringside News)
For those unaware, CM Punk and Roman Reigns last competed way back in January 2014 on RAW just days before the former walked out of WWE. The Original Tribal Chief had emerged victorious over the former AEW World Champion.
CM Punk on AJ Lee's potential WWE return
Elsewhere during the chat, Punk opened up about his wife AJ Lee's long-rumored in-ring return after more than nine years.
Though The Second City Saint didn't give a clear-cut answer, he did mention that if his wife were to come back, her WWE return would be much bigger than his, which went down at Survivor Series 2023.
"That's the fun thing about wrestling fans. They look for stuff that necessarily isn't there. That's kind of the fun of it. Everyone is talking about, 'Who is going to main event WrestleMania?' 'Who is going to enter the Royal Rumble?' 'Who is going to comeback?' They are always looking around this time of year for big returns. I had mine last year, I think hers would be bigger than mine," Punk said.
With Royal Rumble 2025 around the corner, one can only imagine the kind of pop AJ Lee would receive if she were to return during the Women's Rumble match.
