Former WWE champion reflects on splitting up with long-term tag team partner
A popular WWE Superstar opened up about splitting up with his long-term tag team partner earlier this year. The name in question is Imperium's Ludwig Kaiser, who returned on this week's episode of RAW after he suffered from an injury in June 2024.
After months of teasing, the faction finally imploded on the April 23, 2024, edition of Monday Night RAW, as Ludwig Kaiser attacked Giovanni Vinci following their loss to The New Day. Vinci was drafted to SmackDown the following week while Kaiser and Gunther stuck together.
During a recent interview with Spox, Ludwig Kaiser claimed that the split was "sorely needed." The 34-year-old mentioned he had to concentrate on himself, which could not be done while teaming up with another superstar.
"Yes, it was even sorely needed. He [Giovanni Vinci] had more of the team than I did. It was kept below because you want to see more of me in the next few years. I have to concentrate on myself. That’s the way it is in wrestling. There is always a compromise in a team. You can never do what you want," he said.
Kaiser added he was always convinced he would do everything to become a big name. He explained going solo was necessary for him, and he also pointed out it worked well for him.
"I was always convinced that I would do everything to become a big name in WWE. Even in view of my father’s legacy, it was important for me to do my thing alone. You also saw it immediately. Within a few weeks, my stock has risen extremely." [H/T: WreslteZone]
Ludwig Kaiser returned to WWE RAW last night
Ludwig Kaiser returned to WWE television on the latest edition of Monday Night RAW after injuring his ribs during his match against Bron Breakker in June. Although Kaiser won the contest via DQ as Sheamus got involved, he got injured in the aftermath when all three superstars went after each other.
Ludwig Kaiser did not appear on television following his injury till last night, where he opened the show by performing announcing duties for fellow stablemate Gunther on his first WWE RAW as the World Heavyweight Champion.
Later on in the show, he wrestled Sheamus in a singles match. Unfortunately, the former NXT Tag Team Champion lost on his return despite interference from Pete Dunne.
With Gunther recently winning the World Heavyweight Championship, it remains to be seen what lies ahead for his stablemate Ludwig Kaiser, especially after losing on his return from injury.
