Former WWE champion who was "screwed" by CM Punk makes him a big offer
CM Punk has proven to be an asset in the locker room for WWE since his return to the company. However, a former champion believes that The Best in the World cost him his title.
Ethan Page has been steaming ahead as one of the best heels on the NXT brand. He has worked tirelessly to stay on top of the card since making his WWE debut earlier this year.
The 35-year-old star faced off against Trick Williams for his NXT Title on the CW Network premiere of the brand. CM Punk played the role of the special guest referee for the contest.
Speaking on Sports Illustrated’s The Takedown, Ethan Page claimed CM Punk was the reason he lost his title in NXT. He said he had to make big bucks quickly and wanted to move to the main roster. He also offered The Best in the World a return favor so he could screw him over.
"I mean, it looks like whatever is going to put the most amount of money in my pocket," Page said of what a main roster run looks like for him WWE. "I'm 35. I gotta stack that cash up quick. I got two kids, hot Colombian wife. I'm just trying to make sure everyone's happy and taken care of. For that to happen, I probably gotta brush shoulders with guys like Punk who screwed me. So, if he needs a special guest referee, I'm pretty special. I'd love to return the favor."
WWE has done well to keep the fire between Page and Punk alive even though they work on different brands. Someday, it would be great to see them go head-to-head on the main roster.
CM Punk will be looking for new rivalries on WWE RAW
CM Punk surprised many by returning last month and announcing his intentions to join Roman Reigns and his team for Survivor Series: WarGames at Paul Heyman’s request. He was instrumental in the original Bloodline’s win against Solo Sikoa’s team at the event.
The Best in the World took out Drew McIntyre in his previous rivalry to stay on top of the RAW roster. He will now look for new foes on the brand to keep the fire burning.
Bronson Reed recently suffered an injury that has put a stop to his rivalry with Seth Rollins. Meanwhile, WWE could accelerate the rivalry between Rollins and Punk on RAW.
Alternatively, fans could see him go after Gunther’s World Heavyweight Championship and stay busy heading to the 2025 Royal Rumble. A good rivalry with Gunther will help CM Punk stay in the limelight till WrestleMania 41.
