Former WWE champion sends heartwarming message to Chelsea Green following Saturday Night's Main Event
The first edition of WWE Saturday Night's Main Event in 16 years is in the books. The show aired from the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, New York, last night. After the event, a former United States Champion sent a heartwarming message to Chelsea Green on social media.
One of the matches on the card was the final of the Women's United States Championship Tournament. SmackDown Superstars Green and Michin wrestled a closely contested battle for the inaugural title. The Hot Mess emerged victorious and was crowned as the first-ever champion, much to Matt Cardona's delight.
Chelsea Green winning the title at Saturday Night's Main Event was historic in more ways than one. Her husband, Matt Cardona, took to his X (fka Twitter) account to share a post pointing out that they were the first married couple in history to win the WWE United States Championship. The 39-year-old, who won the men's title in 2011, also expressed his love for Chelsea.
"History making couple! I love you @ImChelseaGreen," he wrote.

Chelsea Green opens up about Matt Cardona's potential WWE return
Matt Cardona (fka Zack Ryder) was in the Stamford-based company for 15 years before his release in 2020. However, his departure from the global juggernaut did not stop the former Intercontinental Champion from competing inside the squared circle. He has wrestled for several wrestling promotions since and has also won multiple titles along the way.
Despite his success on the independent scene, wrestling fans have always speculated about Cardona signing with the global juggernaut again. Chelsea Green also shared her take on her husband's potential WWE return during her appearance on the Insight with Chris Van Vliet podcast earlier this year. The 33-year-old claimed she was waiting for his return to the wrestling promotion as she believes it is only a matter of time before it actually happens.
"I am patiently waiting. Because not that I want to be partnered up with him [Matt Cardona] in WWE. That would be great. I think we could have an amazing mixed match, tag team division, whatever it is. But I don’t know. I don’t know why, I would love to know why. I would love to be a fly on the wall of kind of like the meetings of the top guys in WWE. But I do feel like in my heart of hearts, it’s only a matter of time. It feels crazy that he wouldn’t be," she said
